Life Update

Anna Frandsen

Hi, my dear podcast friends. I hope that this episode finds you well.

I'm just going to give you a warning that this episode is much more of a life update.

While you're used to business training from me, this is just a little bit more of my story and what's been happening for me behind the scenes that I wanted to catch you up on.

So what you may know about me is that  last year I donated to single moms in my community that were trying to run a business. I really am passionate about helping single moms. You may also know that this year you helped me raise over $1,000 to the domestic abuse hotline for women with one of the templates that I launched.

But what you might not know is that I'm a single mom myself.

I ended up sharing my story this last week with a group of women that I was speaking with on zoom virtually and I realized that I really hadn't caught you up on what's been happening in my life this year.

So my husband and I unfortunately separated two years ago, and I feel completely confident in the decision even though it was a very hard one.

But I also wanted to wait until the timing was right to share the news with you and I felt like my kids were stabilized.

I ended up filing for divorce this past summer and there's so much that could be said, and obviously there's a lot of grief and sadness, but I also am feeling a lot of peace and support in this process.

So about a year into the separation I flew from Northern California down to Southern California to host a retreat for some amazing women in business and it was an incredible time. Then after I hosted that retreat, I was down here again, which is about a 13 hour drive from where I lived at the time, but I really felt like God telling me it was time to stay in San Diego where I grew up. So I canceled my plane ticket and I moved in with my parents.

I'm someone that really struggles with decisions, but I felt so much peace around this and honestly, I'm so grateful for all the support that I've received from friends and family.

Also, I'm so grateful for the miracle of a virtual business.

When it came to my income and my clients, nothing missed a beat. I really feel like it was a gift from God that four years ago I started my business because if you guys know my story, I did not have entrepreneurial-ism in my family. I thought it was crazy to start a business, but now I realized really the gift of it really giving me complete freedom to make the best decision I needed for me and my kids in a really, really, really difficult time.

So anyway, I've got so much more to share with you, but that's it for now. I just wanted to send you this message that for me, 2018 was probably the hardest year of my life and really felt impossible to get through.

But also, I literally grew my business in what was definitely the hardest chapter of my whole life.

I just want to say that to you, because if you feel like 2020 is a challenging year for you, I know it is for so many people and you're feeling overcome with what you're facing on top of trying to start a business, I just want to let you know that you're not alone and you will make it through. So often those hard chapters are like creating a diamond under pressure, you will and you can make it through.

I want to thank you for being on this journey with me, what a crazy journey and what a crazy life. I remember writing in my journal back in 2016, like I was doing my therapy job and like I had this dream to do more and make money on the side so that I could spend more time with my kids. I just never knew it was possible and I never, never knew that God was giving me the gift of my business so that I could make some hard decisions later in life.

I love doing what I do and I love helping women make money, but why I'm here and why I'm more on fire than ever is because I really feel like what owning a business that supports women like you in creating complete financial and time freedom to make whatever decisions you need to for yourself, for your family, for your kids, complete freedom, I just think it's just the ultimate gift.

So thank you. Thank you for listening to my story and I hope you have a beautiful rest of your week.
