Using the Triangle Exercise in Your Business
In my last blog post, I talked about the four types of negative self-talk that can hold us back in our business. No matter what voices are popping up for you... today we're TAKING ACTION! We're doing Mike Dooley's "Triangle Exercise".FIRST, write down a current, specific goal you are working on in your business.
Then, in the comments below... jot down two task lists. Title one, "my tasks" and title the second one "God's tasks" (or as Mike Dooley writes, "the universe")I love this exercise, because it brings us back to the balanced place of... there ARE things that I am responsible to do to make momentum towards my goal, BUT there are also factors outside of my control and I can't always know the exact outcome. It reminds me of Covey's "Circle of Control" and that we often spend WAY too much of our energy on the things we can't control, and not enough on the things we actual can! Here's an example from my life right now:
β‘ GOAL // Have a Smooth Birth
My Job:Stay Active and Eat HealthyPrep my Birth PlanPack my Bags with the Supplies I needPick a good doctorPrepare my mind/emotionsGod's Job:Bring baby at just the right timeConnect me to the right team and provide them insight if any complications ariseHere's an example from the start of my business:
β‘ GOAL // Getting Fully Booked with Clients
My Job:Getting my mindset in check, asking God for genuine confidenceCommitting to one clear messageBeing consistently visible (daily)Creating the opportunity for women to join my audienceCreating a clear offerDelivering free value (i.e. content, free strategy calls)God's Job:Helping the women that need and desire my services to see me as I am visiblePrompting the right people to be a part of my communityHaving the right clients at the right time commit to working with meTrusting that the women in my audience are healthy, brilliant women (i.e. implication being that I can show up and sell guilt-free knowing that they will say yes or no based on what THEY truly need)PS: Need help with the activities that ARE your job in your business?
